In the latest privacy scandal to hit Facebook, many of its partners have been handing over personal information to third parties and advertising platforms outside Facebook. Users of Facebook who have their privacy settings locked down have had their user IDs, names and anything else that may be listed as "share with friends" given over to outside companies, including advertising networks. They have also apparently been collecting information on who you have listed as your friends to add to your likes, habits and tastes.
Facebook took action and many of the offending partners where barred from Facebook until the breaches were plugged, however not all partners have been barred...we're looking at you Zynga! [Engadget]
