Google's Android mobile operating system has surpassed Microsoft's to capture third place, just behind Apple's iOS and RIM's Blackberry OS according to comScore. For the three months ending in July, Google's system jumped 5%, over the previous three months ending in April, to a total share of the smartphone market of 17%. In contrast Microsoft lost 2.2%, Apple was down 1.3% and RIM declined 1.8%. [comScore]
