The New York Times is reporting that Amazon is working on a subscription-based streaming TV and movie video service. The service will focus on older content which is easier to obtain and license from the media companies. The service is expected to launch by Christmas.
This is not the first time Amazon has stepped into the streaming video services arena. A number o years ago they launched Unbox, which morphed into Video On Demand, with over 40,000 programs so they have some experience running a streaming service. [NY Times]
