According to CNN Money for the first time since the app debut 4 months ago People will be free on the iPad to subscribers. Previously, it cost $3.99 per issue, regardless if you were a subscriber or not.
Fortune and the rest of Time Inc.'s flagship magazines are expected to adopt the same pricing structure in the next 30 days.
It's not clear what took so long. Publishers were ready from the start to make their titles free to subscribers. Apple would not give them the tools they needed and would not explain what was holding them up. Publishers are still unable to sell subscriptions thru the app store, which is how they would prefer to do it.
