WHITE iPHONE FINALLY GETS AN OFFICIAL LAUNCH DATE

The elusive white iPhone 4 that has been rumored for over a year has finally been confirmed by Apple with a launch date. The white iPhone 4 will go on sale at the Apple Store tomorrow, Thursday April 28th. It has the exact same internals as the regular iPhone, just in a white outer shell.

ELUSIVE WHITE iPHONE 4 FINALLY EMERGES IN UK

Well, would you have a gander at that? That, friends, is Apple's long-awaited, hardly-forgotten white iPhone 4, and so far as we can tell, this is actually the real deal. We've seen retailers making space for the elusive handset over the past few months, and earlier today, we heard that Vodafone UK's inventory systems were showing the white iPhone 4 as shipping in. Now, we've secured a few images of a 16GB model from a separate source that has seemingly made its way into the hands of one lucky customer over in Britain.

WHITE iPHONE CONFIRMED

Apple's senior vice president of worldwide product marketing, Phil Shiller, has confirmed the elusive white iPhone will finally be launched "this spring". Once relegated to uber-technofiles like the Woz, Apple has been promising the white iPhone since 2009.

The emergence of the white iPad 2 rekindled the interest in the white iPhone and prompted a twee to Shiller on where to obtain one. Shiller tweeted his response "The white iPhone will be available this spring (and it is a beauty!)."

This is the clearest indication of the existence of this iPhone, however it is unclear if it will be the iPhone 4 or if it will be the iPhone 5.

RUMOR: WHITE IPAD2

Apple hasn't had much luck with white. The promised white iPhone4 has never materialized officially, mainly due to supplies inability to get the right shade and/or match the color. Now 9to5 Mac is reporting they have received a picture of a white bezel for the iPad2. 9to5 Mac says the camera holes lineup perfectly with screen protectors they have seen and is the same as the black bezel, making the white bezel believable.

If Apple has worked out its supplier issues this could bode well for a white iPhone5.

WHITE iPHONE MAKES APPEARANCE IN AT&T SYSTEM

Hot on the heels of cameos in various Vodafone Germany and Best Buy systems, the mythical white iPhone 4 is showing up somewhere else. Turns out any AT&T subscriber can now log in to their account and see both 16GB and 32GB versions of the phone listed in the model picker, which could definitely suggest that these guys are getting ready to finally make them available along with everyone else. Then again, we've also heard that the white iPhone 4 never even left some of AT&T's inventory systems in the first place, so this might mean very little -- but for now, we're going with the "where there's smoke, there's fire" angle. Verizon, your turn.

RUMOR: WHITE iPHONE STILL ON LIFE SUPPORT

At this point, many had assumed that Apple was just going to let the problem-fraught white iPhone 4 slip away into our collective imagination. Apparently not so! 9To5Mac.com has acquired new signs that Apple Stores nationwide received saying that it's still coming spring 2011.

It's not a WHITE IPHONE 4 IS COMING banner or anything like that, but a footnote on a new Apple Store sign says pretty plainly that the unicorn phone will be arriving next year. For now, this dashes the idea that Apple was just going to stop talking about the white iPhone altogether and hope we'd all forget it ever existed. Although that could still definitely happen—spring 2011 is a lot of months away. [Gizmodo]

APPLE CONFIRMS WHITE iPHONE

Yesterday we reported about a rumor surrounding the elusive white iPhone 4.  Now, Apple has confirmed the device and it will be released "Spring of next year".  Apple has had numerous delays of the white iPhone due to the inability to match the color across the supply line.  Could Apple be timing the release to coincide with the rumored Verizon iPhone?  Why release it in Spring if a new iPhone will launch in June/July?  Tell us your thoughts in the comments. LEAKED: WHITE iPHONE

The mysterious, often talked about but never seen, white iPhone 4 has been spotted in the wild.  The fabled device was announced back with the original iPhone 4, but never made it into production.  It has been rumored the reason it never made it into mass production was because Apple had two suppliers making the buttons and glass front/back and they could never get the colors consistent across the supplies.  The shade and translucentcy never passed Apple's quality control and it was never approved for distribution.
