VIACOM BLOCKS GOOGLE TV DEVICES

Google TV started out with such promise. However, over the past few weeks ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox have blocked all access. Now, Viacom is blocking all their properties from Google TV devices. Viacom is the owner of MTV, VH1, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, TV Land, Spike, Logo and CMT along with other lesser known media. Hopefully, Google will soon get agreements from these media companies so Google TV will realize its full potential. [Engadget]

  1. I knew this would happen. Why do they fear a GoogleTV? It only helps people find content, same as a computer. I guess they make a fortune off video cables that connect computers to tv's. This will get fixed, it reminds me of the first year of TiVo, soon they'll just accept it or lose the viewers.

Cable as we knew it is OVER!

  2. Just like music and movies, the cable and broadcast media companies are still stuck in an old business model mindset. They can't see the benefits of using new technology to help drive income. Also, they see boogie men everywhere trying to "steal" and pirate their content which is not really a concern if they would make it available how people want to consume it.
