AOL BUYS TECHCRUNCH

No, it is not an early/late April Fool's joke, AOL announced today they have purchased tech blog TechCrunch for undisclosed terms.  AOL already has Engadget, Switched, TUAW and DownloadSquad in their tech portfolio.  Tim Armstrong, Chairman and CEO of AOL stated "TechCrunch and its team will be an outstanding addition to the high-quality content on the AOL Technology Network, which is now a must-buy for advertisers seeking to associate their brands with leading technology content and its audience.”

TechCrunch will remain headquarted in San Francisco as a wholly owned subsidiary of AOL. [TechCrunch]
