GAME MAKER ROCKSTAR SUGGESTS LATEST SONY PS3 FIRMWARE CAUSING OVERHEATING

Rockstar, the developer behind hits like Grand Theft Auto and L.A. Noir, is reporting that the latest 3.61 firmware update for the Sony PS3 is causing units to overheat. “We have received some reports of PS3s overheating while playing L.A. Noire or beeping three times before shutting down / turning themselves off, mostly on older 60GB and 80GB fat models,” Rockstar customer service team said on its support page, as reported by MCVUK. The developer suggested that the problem is not limited to L.A. Noir and that gamers are experiencing the same issue on other titles — the red light or PS3 freeze usually occurs 30 minutes to 2 hours into gameplay.

Nintendo is not holding back with its threats to cut gamers off if they decide to download and play pirate games on the 3DS. Retailers in Japan are being warned by Nintendo that it will disable a 3DS if illegal games are detected running on it. This deactivation process will be activated through firmware.

The warning from Nintendo has led to some retailers issuing a warning to customers stating they cannot accept any 3DS hardware that has been customized in anyway. This is purely because they cannot guarantee the hardware will continue to function when they resell it.

SONY RELEASES UPDATE FOR PS3; HACKERS PROMPTLY CRACK IT

Sony has released an update to the PS3, bringing the firmware to version 3.56. The firmware update was designed to close the security hole in the PS3 that allowed hackers to obtain the master key and allow them to run any code on the console.

Unfortunately, within hours of the update being released, hackers were able to crack it and open the consoles up once again. The problem is that the master key is out on the internet for anyone to find and use. Sony can't stop this without producing new hardware and then it still has all the original consoles to deal with.

With the master key hackers have the ability to anything they want on the consoles, allowing them to cheat at online games and play games for free potentially taking money out the pockets of game developers.
